Privacy, plainly.

Curated is a private home inventory. Your collection is yours. This page explains what we collect, why, how it's stored, who can touch it, and the choices and rights you have. Last updated May 30, 2026.

Who we are

Curated is a home-inventory app operated by SORTED (“Curated,” “we,” “us”). For any privacy question, or to exercise a right described below, contact privacy@curatedhome.app. We are the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect

The items you catalogue. Photos of your belongings and the details you add or confirm — name, category, brand, room, size, color, serial number, estimated and appraised value, condition, provenance, documents, and notes.

Account information. The email address you sign in with, and — if you use Sign in with Apple — the name and email (or Apple's private relay address) that Apple chooses to share. Used to secure your collection and sync it across devices.

Basic technical data. The minimal request and error information any web service records to stay online and secure. We do not collect your location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

How we use your data

Only to provide the app: to store, organize, search, value, and display your collection; to generate the photo suggestions described below; to authenticate you and keep your account secure; and to produce the exports you request. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

AI photo identification

When you add an item by photo, that image is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to suggest the item's name, category, and an estimated value. You review and confirm every suggestion.

Images are sent only to generate that suggestion. They are not used to train AI models, and are not retained by the provider beyond the request. You can always add items manually instead.

Backdrop replacement

If you choose to replace the background behind a piece, that photograph is sent to fal.ai, which separates the piece from its background and returns a cut-out image. Nothing else about you or your collection is sent with it.

This happens only when you pick a backdrop — never automatically. The piece itself is never altered or regenerated, only separated from what was behind it, and your original photograph is kept unchanged.

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We rely on a small set of service providers (“subprocessors”) who process data only on our instructions to run the app:

  • Supabase — database, photo and document storage, and authentication.
  • Vercel — application hosting and content delivery.
  • Anthropic — the AI that identifies and values a piece from its photo (see above).
  • fal.ai— only if you choose to replace a photo's backdrop, to separate the piece from its background (see above).
  • Apple — only if you choose Sign in with Apple, to authenticate you.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our service.

How your data is stored and secured

Your collection is stored in an encrypted Postgres database and private object storage operated on our behalf, accessed only over encrypted connections and scoped so that each account can reach only its own data. Photos and documents are served through short-lived, signed links. Estimated values are your own records for personal and insurance purposes — they are estimates, not appraisals.

No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.

How long we keep it

We keep your collection for as long as your account is active. When you delete an item, or delete your account, the associated data is removed from our live systems; residual copies in encrypted backups are purged on a rolling basis. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Your rights and choices

Access & export. You can view and export your full inventory to CSV at any time from within the app.

Correction. You can edit any detail of any piece directly.

Deletion. You can delete any item, or delete your entire account and all associated data, from Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA — including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. We honor these rights for all users; email privacy@curatedhome.app and we will respond. We won't discriminate against you for exercising them.

Cookies and tracking

We use only the essential cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and the app working. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics trackers, or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Children's privacy

Curated is intended for adults managing their own belongings. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

Curated is operated from, and stores data in, the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., you understand your information is processed there, which may have different data-protection rules than your home country.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of Curated after an update means you accept the revised policy.
